The Collierville High School softball team is off to a strong start in the District 15-AAAA tournament, securing back-to-back victories to open postseason play.
After cruising past Southwind in a dominant 16-0 win last week, the Lady Dragons followed up with an 8-6 victory over Houston on Monday night.
Collierville came out hot, jumping to a 5-0 lead after just two and a half innings, highlighted by a two-run double from Carli Crisp. Houston responded with two runs in the bottom of the second to cut into the lead, but the Lady Dragons answered right back.
Kendall Harper crushed a two-run home run to left field, extending Collierville’s lead to 7-2. In the seventh, Ashlyne Gerrey provided an insurance run, scoring Crisp to help seal the win.
Harper also earned the win in the circle for the Lady Dragons.
With the victory, Collierville improves to 16-11-1 on the season and will look to keep the momentum rolling as they continue district tournament play at Freeman Park in Bartlett.
