Collierville High School wrestling has long been a force to reckon with in West Tennessee, and at the heart of that success stands veteran head coach Brian Loeffler - who has 30 years experience coaching the sport. On Monday, Loeffler was recognized for his leadership and unwavering dedication to the program, earning the title of Daily Memphian's Coach of the Year.

Under Loeffler’s direction, the Dragons continued their steady rise among Tennessee’s elite, capping off another stellar season with eight wrestlers qualifying for the Class AA state tournament at the Wilson County Ag Expo Center in Franklin. Four of those athletes returned home with medals, highlighted by Devin Corbin’s impressive third-place finish at 126 pounds.

The 2024–25 campaign was packed with statement performances. The Dragons finished second at Houston High’s prestigious Black Horse Invitational, captured a region championship, and earned a hard-fought trip to the state duals tournament.

Perhaps the most headline-grabbing moment came during the regular season, when Collierville handed Christian Brothers High School (CBHS) its first loss to a Shelby County opponent in nearly two decades—a true landmark victory that sent a message to the rest of the state.

Now in his eleventh-year tenure leading the Dragons, Loeffler has built more than a winning program—he’s built a culture. And with the trajectory Collierville is on, it’s clear that the legacy of excellence is only growing.
