If Selection Sunday were today, the Collierville Lady Dragons would certainly have an impressive case for a high seed. Their resume received another significant boost Saturday, as they narrowly defeated Houston (Germantown, TN) 53-52 in a heart-pounding showdown that earned them a spot in Monday’s District Championship game against Bartlett.

In a contest where both teams played at a high level, it was the Collierville "Strong" mentality that ultimately proved the difference, propelling them to their second victory of the season over Houston. This win carries weight for more reasons than just bragging rights—it better positions Collierville in the mix for a shot at making their first state tournament appearance since 1989.

The Lady Dragons (26-5) were led by standout Ehi Aigbomian, who continues to improve with each game. Aigbomian put on a performance for the ages as just a sophomore, scoring a career-high 17 points and dominating the boards on both ends of the court. Senior Hilary Shikuku, ever the reliable presence, contributed another stellar performance, tallying 16 points to keep the Dragons in control.

With Monday’s District Championship game just around the corner, Collierville and Bartlett are set to tip-off at 7:30 p.m., and with both teams moving on to the Regional tournament regardless of the outcome, the stakes couldn't be higher to grab that #1 seed. Collierville will look to build on this momentum, aiming to further solidify that resume in a historic season and for a deep run toward Murfreesboro.
