Collierville High School Volleyball head coach Lindsey Vicknair has been named the 2022-2023 A.F. Bridges Female Coach of the Year for Athletic District 9, the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association announced Monday afternoon.

Now in her 7th season as the head coach of the program, Vicknair’s award comes after her 2022 squad won 37 games and claimed the district, regional, and sectional championships. A state title came up one game short with a loss to Cleveland in the state championship match.

Collierville had a 5-year hiatus from the state tournament prior to Vicknair being named Head Coach. In just her first year, Vicknair lead the Dragons to the State Tournament and has advanced to the State Tournament yearly in each of her season’s at the helm. Vicknair has accumulated over 230 career wins.

As a standout collegiate player at UT-Martin, Vicknair helped the Skyhawks volleyball team to back- to-back Ohio Valley Conference regular season championships in 2001 and 2002, along with an OVC tournament title and a berth in the NCAA tournament in 2002. She was a four-year All-OVC selection. She graduated as the career-record holder in assists (5,050) and the OVC all-time assists leader. The UT-Martin Hall of Famer was named in June 2023 to the Ohio Valley Conference 75th Anniversary Volleyball team.

The A.F. Bridges Awards recognize people who are setting the right example, doing the right things, and setting the standard for high school athletics in the state of Tennessee.
