No. 4 Collierville Baseball blasted MUS 12-1 in a run-rule win on Thursday in Memphis.

The Dragons (25-4) scored double digit runs for the 10th time this season. Sophomore Ayden Jacobs stayed unbeaten on the mound and improved to 4-0. Jacobs allowed just two hits and struck out six, in four innings of work, before giving the ball to strike thrower Brennan Chavies to record the final six outs.

JD Whitworth homered for the 7th time in the first at-bat of the game and the Dragons took an early 1-0 lead. Collierville then added three runs in the third before putting the game out of reach with a six-run fifth inning. The game was called at the end of the 6th inning, due to the mercy rule, after the Dragons scored another pair of runs in the top half of the inning. MUS scored their lone run in the 4th inning frame.

Junior first baseman Tanner Wages went 3-for-3 to pace the Dragons offense. Sophomore Hayden Short had two hits out of four plate appearances. Senior Thomas Crabtree was also 2-for-4 at the dish. Short and Brody Winemiller had 2 RBIs each.

Collierville will have a much needed off day on Friday. The Diamond Dragons then return to the friendly confines of Patriot Bank Park, Saturday, to take on Lexington (TN). First pitch is slated for 2:30pm. Fans may purchase general admission tickets by clicking on the link below.
