The Collierville High School baseball program extended its win streak to seven games with a Friday night victory over Ripley at Patriot Bank Park. The Dragons trailed 2-0 going into the bottom of the 3rd, but a team known to battle back - did so again - and prevailed with a 7-2 win.
Senior Alabama-Huntsville signee, Joey Caruso, continues to stay hot at the plate and paced the Dragons offense with a 2-for-3 performance and a pair of RBIs. Getting the call behind the dish was Tanner Wages, and the catcher provided a pair of hits offensively. Wages' battery mate, 6'4 sophomore right hander Ayden Jacobs, earned the win on the mound. Jacobs went 5 innings, allowed four hits, and struck out four.
Set-up man Brennan Chavies pitched a scoreless sixth and closer Keaton Baird, in a non-save opportunity, had a perfect 7th inning while striking out 2.
The Diamond Dragons (21-3) will go for their eighth straight on Saturday with a 2:30pm first pitch scheduled at Patriot Bank Park versus Dyer County.
