The Collierville High School football team is 6-0 for the first time since 1998 after making a statement Friday night (Sept. 24) by defeating perennial power Whitehaven 28-6. It was the first win for the Dragons over the Tigers since 2005.
Whitehaven had an early lead after fleet-footed quarterback William Carver rushed for touchdown in the 1st quarter. The Dragons would answer in the 2nd quarter with a touchdown from Tyler Collier. Troy Martin would also score for the Dragons in the 2nd quarter from 15 yards out.
The second half was all Dragons with insurance touchdowns again from Collier and a John Hampton receiving touchdown.
Houston Wilhelm was 17-23 and threw for 159 yards, Troy Martin rushed for 94 yards on 20 carries, and Noah Flaskamp had four receptions for 55 yards to lead the offensive attack.
Collierville will travel to Germantown Friday, October 1, in hopes to make continued improvements against a very good Red Devils team.
